After a short trial at Elland Road, Brian Deane returned to Leeds United
for a second spell, arriving on a free transfer on July 22nd 2004.
The 36-year-old began his career at Doncaster Rovers in 1985, before
moving to Sheffield United three years later where he scored 83 goals
in 198 League appearances.
A ?2.9 million move to then League champions Leeds United followed in
1993. Brian scored 32 goals in 138 League games for United before returning
to Sheffield United in 1997. He spent the majority of the following year
playing for Portuguese giants Benfica before returning to England to join
Middlesbrough for ?3 million in October1998.
Brian switched to Leicester City in 2001, where he fired 13 First Division
goals to help Mickey Adams? men back to the Premiership. He spent last
season with West Ham United where he was able to influence games coming
off the bench.
A tall, powerful striker, United boss Kevin Blackwell will also look
towards his immense physical presence inside the penalty area to turn
games this season.
